CARDOXIN

Lanoxin (Digoxin) belongs to a class of drugs known as digitalis glycosides. It improves the strength and efficiency of your heart, which leads to better circulation of blood and
reduction of the uncomfortable swelling that is common in people with congestive heart failure.

Generic Lanoxin may also be marketed as: Digoxin, Digitek, Lanoxicaps, Cardoxin.

> USES

Generic Lanoxin is used to treat heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). It helps the heart work better and it helps control your heart rate. Generic Lanoxin is also used to treat heart pain (angina) and may be used after a heart attack.

> HOW

Generic Lanoxin comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. Do not take this medicine within 1 hour of food high in fiber. Take exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Digoxin helps control your condition but will not cure it. Continue to take Generic Lanoxin even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Generic Lanoxin without talking to your doctor.

> SIDE EFFECTS

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Generic Lanoxin: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
fast, slow, or uneven heart rate;
bloody or black, tarry stools;
blurred vision, yellowed vision; or
confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior.
Less serious Generic Lanoxin side effects may include:
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite;
feeling weak or dizzy;
headache, anxiety, depression;
enlarged breasts in men; or
mild skin rash.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur.

> PRECAUTIONS

Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Use of this medicine is not recommended if you have a history of ventricular fibrillation. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

Do not stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor. Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine.

> INTERACTIONS

Many drugs can interact with Generic Lanoxin. Below is just a partial list. Tell your doctor if you are using:
an antacid, or Kaopectate;
alprazolam (Xanax);
cancer medications;
clonidine (Catapres);
supplements or medications that contain calcium;
a diuretic (water pill), such as spironolactone (Aldactone, Aldactazide);
amphotericin B (Fungizone, AmBisome, Abelcet);
cholestyramine (Questran, Prevalite);
epinephrine (EpiPen);
indomethacin (Indocin);
isoproterenol (Isuprel);
itraconazole (Sporanox);
levothyroxine (Synthroid, Levothroid, and others);
metoclopramide (Reglan);
neomycin (Mycifradin, Neo-Fradin, Neo-Tab);
rifampin (Rifadin, Rifater, Rifamate);
St. John's wort

> WHEN MISSED

If you miss a dose of this medicine and remember the same day, take the missed dose. If you do not remember until the next day or if it is more than 12 hours since your missed dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

> STORAGE

Store Generic Lanoxin at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Generic Lanoxin out of the reach of children and away from pets.
