Generic Caduet contains a combination of amlodipine and atorvastatin. Amlodipine is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels, improving blood flow and making it easier for the heart to pump. Atorvastatin is in a group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, or "statins." Atorvastatin reduces levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL).

Swallow Generic Caduet whole. Do not crush, crew or break this medication. Take Generic Caduet at the same time daily, with or without food. Contact your doctor for the precise instructions that apply to you. Dosage of this medication may change during treatment depending on the severity of your condition and the progression of your illness.

Monitor your blood pressure frequently while taking this medication. Many patients are advised to schedule doctor's visits while taking Generic Benicar to monitor the effectiveness of this treatment.
Inform your doctor and surgeon that you are taking Generic Benicar before you go in for any surgical procedure or medical test. Do not stop taking this medication without first speaking to your doctor, as suddenly halting treatment may worsen your condition.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Generic Caduet: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

fever, unusual tiredness, and dark colored urine;
swelling, weight gain, urinating less than usual or not at all;
severe drowsiness, feeling like you might pass out;
pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
worsening chest pain;
chest pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling; or
nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Common Generic Caduet side effects may include:
headache;
mild muscle pain;
diarrhea;
mild nausea;
stomach pain or indigestion;
dizziness;
joint pain; or
flushing (warmth or redness in your face).
